Poultry

We’ve started with some new chicks spring 2025. New to us, we’re trying Cinnamon Queens and Golden Comets. In previous years, we’ve had ISA browns, Rhode Island Reds, and other mixes.

We converted a trampoline base for a mobile fencing option. Once they get bigger, they’ll move into our chicken tractor.

Welcome to Heartland Farmette, where we’re living life on the prairie in the Illinois heartland. We pursue various homesteading things in our small corner of the world. We love to garden. We converted a small part of a crop field to a prairie, woody perennials, and an orchard. We raise Old-Time Scotch Collies. Previously, we’ve kept chickens for meat and eggs and may pursue raising poultry in the future. Stay tuned! We love our little slice of heaven where we’re able to pursue our passion of stewarding the environment around us.
